Soccer is a big thing in Turkey; if you start spending time in the country you would be surprised to see how much people love it.
There are 4 big rivals as; Fenerbahçe (yellow&blue, mascot:canary) , Galatasaray (yellow&red, mascot: lion) , Beşiktaş (black&white, mascot:eagle) and Trabzon Spor (crimson&blue, mascot: anchovy) . Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray and Beşiktaş are from the same city; Istanbul.
These names are actually the names of Istanbul regions, while Galatasaray and Besiktaş are on the European side, Fenerbahçe is on Asian (Anatolian) side.
Trabzon is a city on the Black sea coast as it is one of the most developed on that area.
When modern soccer was started to be played in Turkey at the beginning of the 19th century, it was a game more for like non-Muslims.
